Let’s weigh up the pros and cons of flatrate pricing so you can make your own mind up.
Series: Flatrate Pricing. Friend, or Foe.
Cohost: Steve Piper.
We’ve had loads of requests, from many of our listeners for us to create some specific content on flatrate pricing. We’ve touched on it in a handful of episodes, however we’ve not yet dedicated an entire episode, let alone an entire series.
If this episode interests you, chance are you’ll enjoy the following episodes:
- Episode 19. Pricing for profit with Matt from Cube Consulting
- Episode 65. Knowing Your Hourly Rate, with Adrian From Trained To Sell
- Episode 68. Charging For Quotes. Again with Adrian From Trained To Sell
- Episode 84. More Trust equals more sales with Eve John
In this series I’m joined by Steve Piper, who formally owned a well known plumbing company called The Pied Plumber. Steve sold that business a number of years ago, when he decided to focus on further developing the quoting program they used so that other companies could benefit from it also.
He and his wife Penny now run Plumbing Profits, where they teach plumbers how to implement the ‘flatrate pricing’ model into their businesses.
Episode 2. Flatrate pricing Pros and Cons
In the previous episode, we spoke about some of the Myths associated with flatrate pricing and in this podcast, we talk more about the pros and cons.
Obviously every business is different and has different requirements. In this episode, Steve fills us in about some of the advantages and some of the disadvantages of flatrate pricing.
It was interesting, but not very surprising to hear that many of the problems that arise with flatrate, or upfront pricing, comes as a result of technicians taking advantage of situations.
With the correct training and support, there is no reason why the flatrate pricing model wouldn’t add a huge amount of value to the right organisation. I would encourage you to do your own research if you’re considering adopting it into your business. People are happy to give you their opinions, however it’s rarely accurate.
I hope you enjoy this podcast and I hope it helps you make an informed decision.
