Are you setting goals that contribute to the bigger picture? It’s all about setting the right goals to help you reach the right destination.
Series: Goal Setting
Cohost: Tom Reber from Motor Hard
With a new year upon us and setting goals being at the forefront of all of our minds, I thought it would be cool to create a podcast series on setting goals…the right way.
I don’t know if you’re anything like me, however I have set so many goals in the past, to which many of them, for one reason or another, I just forget about.
We all know the importance of creating goals and we’ve all heard the cliché quotes relating to creating goals. You know the ones like; “90% of the goals you write down come true”; “Read your goals out loud every day”, etc.
Well quite frankly, I call bullshit. I spent years doing this and nothing good ever happened because of a couple of reasons.
- They weren’t goals, they were wishes, or dreams
- I hadn’t been creating a game plan of steps to help me get towards my goals
- I had no accountability. To either myself, or someone else.
I asked Tom to co-host this series with me on goal setting because I want you guys to not just set goals this year, I want you to set the right goals and more importantly, I want you to achieve them.
If you do this right, it will change your life, not just your business.
I wish you all a fantastic 2017.

Episode 2. Setting goals that count towards your game plan.
This is part two of the ‘Setting Goals’ Series with Tom Reber from Motor Hard. if you missed the first episode, make sure you go back and check it out because this episode ties into it.
We’ve all done it before. We go about setting goals or visualising things that look and sound great, but at the end of the day, have little, if any bearing on our businesses real goals.
For example, last year I set a business goal to speak and at international conference. That sounded like a ‘cool’ goal, but the reality was, it was not going to contribute to any of the major goals that I had set for the year.
– – – It lacked framework, it lacked accountability and it lacked a pathway to a bigger picture – – –
In the last podcast, we spoke about creating a game plan and in this podcast, we speak about setting goals that contribute to that game plan. There’s no real point in doing it the other way, it’s like running before you can run.
We cover the following:
- Breaking goals into digestible bites
- The three main areas to goal setting (personal, Profit, Time)
- Being specific
- The compound effect
- Reverse engineering and a heap more.

We’ll be launching a product this year, designed to keep you on track, so we’ll let you know when it’s ready.
