Learn how to Think Opposite with Alison Donaghey

“Figure out how to structure your days, so you don’t miss anything important”.
Does that sound like a wise motto?

What about “Be Your Own Customer”?

In this podcast, I’m speaking with Alison Donaghey from Vancouver Island in Canada about her amazing journey from being a single mum on welfare, through to when she started the home painting business that still runs today.

With the odds against her, Alison set out to build a business that gave her more time to spend with her son.
Ironically, today Alison’s son is ‘Jonesing’ to partner with mum as they plan to turn the business into a franchise.

After lots of blood sweat and tears, Alison created ‘Sonshine Girls Painting’.
Being a female run business in a male dominated industry, it had challenges of it’s own. Not always bad challenges as we learn, but challenges none the less.

Working as a painter, Alison realised there was a need to help people with their colour selection. This realisation marked the launch of ‘Your Perfect Colour’, which is a program that educates people about the process of creating a colour scheme for their project.

More recently, Alison has been working on a book called, ‘Think Opposite: Using the Domino Effect to Change Your Business, Change the world.’

The book that’s set to launch in book stores later this year talks about what she has coined ‘Thinking Opposite’. Thinking Opposite is the ability to suspend your belief, consider the opposite and proceed with perspective.

As Alison quotes on her website, “If we all spent a little more time thinking before acting our lives, businesses and the world will be all the better for it.”

Alison also has a radio show (and podcast) called ‘Think Opposite’ which you can find at the links below:

I have been listening to the pod casts for a few months now, I can't get enough of all the awesome content that you guys provide. Especially when you guys deliver it from a trade perspective which helps out a lot. Keep up the good work and hopefully one day I can afford one of the trade training trips.
